Our very first martial arts club opened its doors on 9th January 1990 and continues to deliver world class self-defence to men and women.

Our students are welcome and encouraged to train at any of our clubs across our organisation as many times as they like for one very reasonable fee.

Classes taught by our Head of Adult Training and Development, Sam Gladdy Sensei 4th Dan.

My son has been attending Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu in Borehamwood and we couldn't be happier. The instructors are professional, patient and fantastic with children of all ages. Since joining, I've seen a real improvement in his confidence, discipline and fitness.

The classes are well organised, engaging and focused on both self-defence and personal development. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making it a great place for children to learn and grow. I would highly recommend this club to any parent looking for a martial arts class in the area.

I cannot recommend Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu Borehamwood enough.

Sensei Sam and the entire team are absolutely amazing — professional, welcoming, supportive, and highly skilled. From the moment you walk in, you feel part of a strong and respectful team environment.

The training is excellent for anyone looking to improve their confidence, discipline, self-defence, fitness, and martial arts knowledge. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, everyone is made to feel welcome and supported.

The office team are also extremely professional and very helpful. From the first phone call to signing up and organising training, everything is smooth, friendly, and very professionally managed. A big well done to everyone involved in running this fantastic club.

As someone working within the security industry and BGH Close Protection, I truly respect the professionalism, discipline, and standards taught here.

A fantastic club with great people and a brilliant atmosphere. I would honestly give more than 5 stars if I could.

Our son has been learning ju jitsu with Ishin Ryu for over 2 years and he enjoys it so much.

The team are so respectable and displined which is reflected in their teaching. We are so happy to see our son graduate to the junior class and look forward to him progressing further in the future!

Very happy and greatful for these classes. My son has been going since last year and too see the confidence my son has now compared to when he first started is really amazing. He always looks forward to his weekly class with Sensai Jack. Highly recommend

Fantastic jujitsu class! The instructors creates a positive, fun, and disciplined environment where the kids learn real skills while building confidence and respect & my 6 year old daughter enjoys it. You can see how much care and dedication goes into teaching every student. Highly recommend for any parent looking for a supportive and engaging class for their child!

All of the instructors, but Lou in particular, have been fantastic at supporting and encouraging my child. Lou really takes the time to get to know the children and spoke to me at length to ensure my child got the most out of their lessons.
