CHILDREN'S JU JITSU

Our highly popular martial arts classes for girls and boys have been serving our community since 1990.

Weekly after-school self-defence classes are held for Infants, Juniors and Teenagers on Monday and Friday evenings.

Ju Jitsu classes are taught by our Head of Children’s Training and Development, Lou Panteli Sempai.

Ju Jitsu has severely improved my self confidence and determination in practice. I started in the teenagers class in 2021 when I was about 12, and as I am nearly 18, I have recently joined the Adult Class. Sempai Joe and Sempai Zak have been absolutely amazing and supportive instructors in helping me through my journey through Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu.

This is one of the best activities I’ve found for kids. Both of my boys attend Jiu-jitsu classes, and they absolutely love it. It’s something they genuinely look forward to every week, which says a lot.
It’s also great to see them learning practical self-defense skills in a safe and controlled environment.
I highly recommend Jiu-jitsu for any parent looking for an activity that supports both physical and personal development.

My daughter really enjoys Ju Jitsu in Bushey grove leisure centre, it has developed her decision capabilities and made her stronger physically and mentally. The teacher - Sempai Lou is very supportive and teaches self defence really well and encourages kids to perform better. She is also very happy as she got new friends outside of school who have similar interest. A great place to learn self defence .

Our Grandson, now aged eleven, has been attending the Ju Jitsu classes for the past two and a quarter years. He always looks forward to Friday evenings and his Ju Jitsu classes. He really enjoys the sport and meeting up with his Ju Jitsu friends. The instruction is excellent, and you can watch every session from the gallery. Grading and the following weeks presentations are great occasions for the children, where they know that they have achieved something. I now have three Grandchildren who attend Ju Jitsu and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Our son commenced his training six months ago, and the experience has been exceptional. He thoroughly enjoys it and has developed enhanced focus, independence, and self-assurance. My son Stian has been attending Ju Jitsu every Friday since last year, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for him. He genuinely loves every class and always comes home happy and motivated.

The sessions are well-structured, fun, and full of positive energy, while still teaching discipline, respect, and confidence. I’ve seen a real improvement in Stian’s focus and behaviour since he joined.

Sempai Lou is fantastic—patient, supportive, and truly dedicated to every child’s progress. She creates a safe and encouraging environment where kids can grow both physically and mentally.

Since my son started Ju Jitsu in June last year, he has absolutely loved every session. From day one, he felt welcomed and excited to attend, and that hasn’t changed.

The classes are very well organised, fun, and at the same time teach real discipline, respect, and confidence. I’ve seen a big improvement in his focus, behaviour, and overall attitude, both in and out of class.

Sempai Lou is an excellent instructor—patient, professional, and truly dedicated to the children’s development. She knows how to keep them engaged while also teaching them important life skills.

My boys absolutely love Ju Jutsu classes. The sessions are very interactive and engaging, and they are constantly learning new skills and techniques. Each lesson feels unique and well structured, especially in the lead up to gradings. Also grading ceremonies are always fun and inclusive, with parents also involved, which makes it even more special. Sempai is an amazing instructor, and we are really happy with the quality of teaching and overall experience 🙂

This is a brilliant Dojo. Initially when I joined I was very shy but the teachers were very supportive encouraged me to talk to more people and help build my confidence as well as letting me explore my curiosity. As a teenager our syllabus includes everything I would need to know in order to defend myself at school or in the Streets including how to defend against weapons such as knives which is very Common in the UK.

My son has been coming to Ju Jitsu here for over 3 years and I couldn’t ask for anything better! He absolutely loves it and It’s has taught him some amazing life skills like independence, discipline and courage, aswell as 10/10 Ju Jitsu training! My 2 boys have been going to this club for many years since they were very young. Each lesson is a good mix of fun activities and teaching. Plenty of 121 support and guidance as they progress with their grading.

My son has been attending Ju Jitsu for a few months. He gets very anxious starting new things but his teacher Sempai Lou really looked after him & made him feel safe & comfortable. He now loves it. It is truly helping him to build his confidence 🙂

Excellent lessons with great teaching techniques making it fun, safe and enjoyable. Sempai Lou has great teaching skills, knowledge, experience and understanding of children with special educational needs and abilities. She has been great with my son who has Autism. This is a great opportunity for him to learn self discipline, confidence and physical skills for the future. Also great with the teenager group!
