All right mate,
We first chatted on the practice mat, and we were talking about BJJ jiu jitsu etc - I made the mistake of thinking that Ishin Ryu was 'traditional' jiu jitsu – Ishin Ryu is not that for sure.
To be honest I wanted to see your fights on the day as I thought you might get throws etc but was fairly convinced that you would be out of your depth on the ground, when we bumped into each other again in the changing rooms i almost couldn't believe what I was hearing (flying triangles and choke outs etc) and had to see your fights, when I did, I’ll be honest I thought wow! you've put up a very very impressive performance and you've got far more ground skill than I thought you would have
fair play mate definitely impressed, also particularly impressed with the baseball choke, that is a hard choke to make stick, I’ve tried it loads of times in training and only got a tap once, it's not particularly high percentage and the technique is fairly particular in as much as you can be putting all your effort in and you don't quite get enough pressure to make the guy tap out, being as you've made your opponent go to sleep I would have to assume you've not only practiced it but perfected the technique over time?
Anyway, well done and maybe you'll be at the next tournament.
